How bushing sizes are written
A plain bushing is defined by three nominal dimensions: the bore (inside diameter, ID or d), the outside diameter (OD or D) and the length (L). Bushing MFG writes them in that order, so 55 × 65 × 45 means a 55 mm bore, a 65 mm outside diameter and a 45 mm length; the wall is (65 − 55) / 2 = 5 mm. A flanged bushing adds the flange diameter and flange thickness; a thrust washer is written as inside diameter × outside diameter × thickness.
Inch sizes follow the same order in decimal inches or fractions (1-1/4 × 1-1/2 × 1). Where a table lists both systems, the row states its unit; do not convert one to the other and expect the tolerances to survive.
Nominal size is not the tolerance
The tables give nominal dimensions. The bore and outside-diameter tolerances, the running clearance against the pin and the interference in the housing are set for the quoted part from the shaft, the housing and the material. Two bushings with the same 55 × 65 × 45 can be made to different fits.
If your drawing states the fit (for example bore H7 after pressing, outside diameter r6), we quote to it. If it does not, send the shaft diameter and housing bore and we propose the fit.
Frequently asked questions
Are the listed sizes in stock?
Sizes are made to order and confirmed at quotation. There is no minimum order quantity and samples are free, so a single reference size can be sampled before a programme starts.
My size is not in the table. Can you make it?
Yes. Send bore, outside diameter and length with the material and quantity, or the drawing. Bronze is machined Ø3–1000 mm; other materials are quoted case by case.
Do you make inch sizes?
Yes. Bronze and hardened steel bushings are made in metric and inch dimensions. State the unit on the enquiry.
