Calculators for plain bearing design
Small, exact tools for the arithmetic that comes up in every bushing enquiry: what a size weighs, how much interference a housing gives, how a load splits between two bearings. Each runs in your browser; nothing is stored.

Bore × outside diameter × length → wall thickness, circumferences, volume, mass per material and projected bearing area.

Radial load between two bearings → reaction at each bearing and the specific load p = R / (d × L) on each bushing.

Why a bushing manufacturer publishes calculators
Most of the questions our engineers answer before a quotation are arithmetic: whether a housing bore gives enough interference to hold a wrapped bushing, what the specific load on a pivot is once the pin diameter and bushing length are fixed, how much a batch of large bronze sleeves will weigh in the crate. The tools on this page do that arithmetic in the open, with the formula printed beside the result, so that the number in your enquiry and the number in our quotation are the same one.
They are deliberately narrow. None of them selects a material or predicts a service life: those depend on lubrication, contamination, duty cycle and alignment, which a form cannot see. Use the tool for the number, then send the number with the application and we will do the rest.
Frequently asked questions
Do the calculators store my inputs?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored. The "Quote this" link simply carries the result into the enquiry form on this site.
Which units do the tools accept?
Millimetres and inches for dimensions, newtons and pounds-force for loads. Switch the unit at the top of each form; results follow the selected unit.
Can I use the results for other bearing types?
The geometry and load tools are general mechanics and apply to any cylindrical sleeve or two-support shaft. The PV tool uses plain-bearing limits and is not meant for rolling-element bearings.
Have the numbers? Send them with the drawing.
Our engineers turn dimensions, fits and loads into a material proposal and a quotation within 12 hours. Free samples, no minimum order.
